5 Ways to Experience Fall Colours in North Grenville

As the leaves change colours and begin to fall, there’s no better time to hike. With over 150kms of trails in North Grenville, there are many different places to view the crisp foliage. Bonus: if you’re coming from Ottawa, the 416 drive is a beautiful green-yellow-orange-red gradient at this time of year!

Limerick Forest

A perfect place for autumn views, Limerick Forest has several different trails to choose from. It even has a boardwalk and viewing platform over the wetlands where you can see water critters and fowl.

Rail Trail

This well-groomed trail spans cuts through Kemptville, giving you forested and more urban views. The 7km round-trip trek also goes through Kemptville Campus, which has additional winding, fully-foliaged trails including two new trails: Sugar Bush Trail Loops and Discovery Trail.

Fall Reflections

There's still time to get out on the Rideau River,  and trails along the water make for perfect viewing, with reflections of yellow, orange and red in the water. Anniversary Park is the perfect spot. Complete with a dock, picnic tables and gazebo for lunch, and Kinderwood Trail and Turtle Trail.  

Ferguson Forest

If you’re looking for even more picturesque hikes, be sure to visit Ferguson Forest. The trail system offers a variety of adventures for all skill levels. While there, stop by the tree nursery and bring you pooch along to visit the Ferguson Forest Dog park, a dog haven with open areas, water station, puppy area, and its own forest with changing colours!

Keep your eyes peeled for friends above and below, leaf piles make the perfect place to hide. And be on the lookout for nature’s food offerings.
